Morse Lumber, Rochester New York

Project Highlights:

  • Removed 3,100 tons of non-hazardous soil, 500 tons of concrete, and 20 tons of railroad ties.
  • Placed 50,000 square feet of demarcation fabric.
  • Installed 0,000 square feet of Geopave.

Sessler Environmental Services restored a former Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) facility, which had been decommissioned for years. The project involved clearing, grubbing, and demolishing old structures, including 300 feet of rail line, building foundations, and a brick road.

The team managed 3,100 tons of non-hazardous soil, 500 tons of concrete, and 20 tons of railroad ties. A drainage system was installed, featuring 300 feet of fusion-welded HDPE pipe and strip drains, with the subgrade pitched at a 2% slope for proper water flow.

To reinforce the site, 50,000 square feet of demarcation fabric were placed, along with 600 tons of 3A stone, 1,300 tons of No. 1 stone, and 600 tons of fine crushed stone.

The final step involved installing 30,000 square feet of Geopave filled with 1A stone, along with 200 cubic yards of topsoil and 12,000 square feet of fine crushed stone. This remediation project has prepared the site for future use while ensuring proper drainage and stability.
