Asbestos Abatement, Utilities Separation, and Hazardous /Non-Hazardous Waste Removal, Eastern Michigan

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Abatement of 1,150 tons of friable asbestos and 3,700 tons of non-friable asbestos-containing material
  • Removal and disposal of 12+ loads of Special Waste (Universal waste, Mercury, contaminated RR Ties, refrigerants, contaminated soils)
  • Abatement of all friable asbestos insulation from 110’ tall boiler house units

SES was contracted for extensive environmental remediation, decommissioning, and demolition at a Pontiac, Michigan coal powerhouse and storm water treatment facility. Abatement involved removing asbestos from respirators and chillers, with a focus on the three-story-tall boiler house unit, requiring specialized containment. Remediation addressed hazardous materials in the storm water treatment plant, including lead, PCBs, mercury, and heavy metals. All waste and contaminants were then transported to an approved off-site facility for proper disposal.
