Asbestos Abatement & Oil Tank Cleaning, Central New York

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:

  •  Environmental remediation of +25 buildings that spanned across two city blocks in downtown Utica—each building ranged from 1-4 stories each.
  • Bypass or Relocation and Restoration of Multiple On-Site Utilities
  • Oil Tank Cleaning
  • Universal Waste Collection

SES was hired to complete the abatement and remediation of +25 buildings that spanned across two city blocks in downtown Utica—each building ranged from 1-4 stories.

Throughout a particularly snowy winter, the crew carried out the asbestos abatement of each building, collected universal waste including: bulbs, paints, oil, electric scraps, etc. We then consolidated all the waste streams to reduce the volume of construction debris that was removed from the building to be delivered to an approved waste facility to be disposed of.

SES also serviced several oil tanks throughout the city block span. This service included cutting, draining of sludge, and cleaning of tanks to prep the area for the next phase of the project.

Finally, clean soil was collected and transferred to specific site locations to be used as backfill before project completion.

SES worked closely with local, state, and federal agencies to secure the necessary permits to carry out the remediation. Site work components which included utility disconnections, traffic, noise, and dust control were all coordinated through our health and safety team to ensure that the workers and surrounding community were protected throughout the project.
