Asbestos & Hazardous (PCBs) Abatement – Local School District, Western New York

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Abatement of approximately 8000 linear feet of Non-friable asbestos, and approximately 300 square feet of Friable asbestos
  • Successfully organized large crews through multiple phases
  • Safe transportation of disposal to an approved waste facility

SES was contracted by a local school district to abate asbestos in multiple school buildings. The elementary school, dating back to 1919 and covering around 30,000 square feet, saw the successful abatement of 8,000 linear feet of non-friable asbestos-containing material, along with limited PCBs in bathroom flooring and exterior caulk, across multiple phases.

Simultaneously, another SES team addressed asbestos abatement at the nearby middle school/high school, a 40,000-square-foot building constructed in 1965. Approximately 200 square feet and 70 linear feet of non-friable asbestos were abated from exterior louvers and ceiling mastic.

Upon completion, the abated materials were safely transported off-site via permitted vehicles, adhering to nonhazardous and hazardous waste manifests, for disposal at approved designated facilities.
