Federal Border Crossing Asbestos Abatement, Western New York
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
- Asbestos abatement of existing plaza
- Confined space entry work
- Preparation for controlled demolition of plaza
- T&D of all contaminated ACM to DEC approved landfill
SES was enlisted by a general contractor for asbestos abatement before the demolition of structures at a federal border crossing undergoing a multi-phase upgrade. Stringent background checks and badging were essential, with the entire crew dedicated to minimizing COVID-19 risks.
The project involved maintaining operational facilities with limited access and high-security requirements. Effective communication and logistics were crucial.
In Phase I, SES abated asbestos-impacted roof flashing materials on an inspection carport. In Phase II, SES conducted abatement on a secondary canopy, border administration building, primary inspection booths, and subterranean tunnels.
All waste was properly containerized, profiled, and transported by licensed haulers to client-approved receiving facilities for disposal.
