Rural Preservation, Southwestern NY
Project Highlights
- Rehabilitation of over 250 senior living apartments at nine facilities
- Asbestos abatement
- Mold abatement – remediation
- Post construction cleaning
- Covid-19 sanitation and disinfection
SES was retained to provide various abatement and remediation services related to the upgrade of nine senior-living facilities located throughout the southern tier of Western New York.
The project had various aspects based on the differing conditions at each apartment. Once onsite, SES was provided an environmental conditions assessment and scope of work from the client and third-party monitoring firm.
The remedial activities included abatement of asbestos and/or mold, post-construction cleaning, and Covid-19 sanitation/disinfection as part of the final cleaning.
The project presented logistical challenges to ensure residents could continue living in the facility during the renovations. Residents were relocated to temporary quarters during the renovations, and each temporary unit was sanitized prior to each new occupant.
Multiple trades were involved in the renovations, which required consistent communication and schedule adherence to ensure the renovations were completed on schedule. This communication was critical so the residents could be relocated between temporary quarters and the renovated units.
Once each scope of work was complete, the client and monitoring firm inspected each area to verify work was complete to state and federal institutional guidelines. The work site was then turned over the other trades so the renovation work could complete.
