Former Paint Manufacturing Facility, Tonawanda, New York
Sessler Environmental Services (SES) recently successfully completed the remediation of the former paint manufacturing facility in Tonawanda, NY. The facility once produced latex and oil-based paints. The site had been long impacted by waste, including potentially abandoned drums detected by Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR).
As part of the NYSDEC Brownfield Cleanup Program, SES excavated over 2,500 tons of contaminated soil and removed 90 solidified paint drums. The paint inside the drums was containerized and solidified. With extensive analytical testing and approval from the NYSDEC, the solidified paint was properly disposed of as a non-hazardous waste at an approved disposal facility.
Our crew also safely disposed of 6,500 gallons of stormwater into the sewer system under permit.
This project highlights SES’s commitment to environmental safety, compliance, and the responsible remediation of contaminated sites.
