Sanmina In-Situ Remediation, Owego, New York

Project Location: Owego, New York

Project Highlights:

  • Performed in-situ remediation in a confined courtyard beneath a building addition, with interior-only access expanded by saw-cutting to accommodate heavy equipment.
  • Project scope included asbestos abatement; select demolition of a 2,100 SF addition; and removal of the roof, exterior walls, footings, and overburden soil.
  • Structural lintels were installed; existing footers were saw-cut to remain in place; drainage was rerouted; and a 25-foot-deep steel sheeted cell was constructed.
  • Inside the cell, approximately 400 CY of soil was treated in place through in-situ soil mixing using Zero-Valent Iron (ZVI) and Portland cement with a long-reach excavator and rotary mixing head.
  • Project concluded with restored drainage and a fully sealed building exterior.
